| In the Name of God, Most Gracious, Most MercifulMay God’s Peace and Blessings be upon His Prophet Muhammad, his Family, Companions, Brothers and Sisters, and Party |
| The Justice & Spirituality Movement (Jamā’at al-‘Ad wal Ihsān) is victim these days of a new campaign of oppression by the Moroccan authorities. The Moroccan people still follow, full of amazement, the series of repressive measures taken against the JSM members, men and women, young and old. |
| The police forces have arrested hundreds of JSM members, beaten them savagely, crammed them (including mothers with their babies and young children) in infected cells and kept them under custody in inhumane conditions and without food and drink, terrorized their families by breaking into their houses in early mornings and late evenings, stole their belongings, and robbed and destroyed logistic material worth millions of dollars that was prepared for open day events organized by the JSM. |
| It is indeed a vicious war for which the illegitimate rulers in power have mobilized all security forces, which are paid from the Moroccan people’s public funds, to oppress some of the best elements of the Moroccan people, men and women. Nobody was spared by ferocious state terrorism and violence: university professors, senior engineers, university students, workers and tradesmen, men and women, young and old. Worse, even the infants and the elderly were not spared by the lunacy of the “Makhzen’s strategic experts”. |
| On account of such delicate situation, we inform the Moroccan people and the international community of what follows: |
| 1- State violence and despotism will but increase our belief in God’s promise that He will assist us and grant us victory by peaceful means over the illegitimate rulers if we keep on imploring Him humbly and follow the path of His Beloved Messenger (God’s peace and blessings be upon him), a path of patience, tolerance and non-violence. |
| 2- We have dispensed countless counsels to the illegitimate rulers for three decades now:We reiterate our final and last word: it is either Islam or the Flood. In other words, those illegitimate rulers will either abide by the choice of the Moroccan people who aspire to live under an open-minded Islamic system of government based on respect of human rights, personal freedoms and democratic values as recognized and practiced internationally, or they will face the inevitable lot of despotic regimes. We remind them that we will never bow to any one other than God, and that we will never betray the Moroccan people’s confidence in us and ally with illegitimate regimes that maliciously combat Islam in the name of Islam. |
| 3- We assure the Moroccan people and the international community that state violence against our movement will not drive us, under any circumstances, to change our line of conduct based on peaceful opposition to illegitimate rulers. Thus, we will never resort to counter-violence or subversive reactions, however intense state repression may be. For kindness, love, tolerance, and belief in progressive and peaceful change are basic principles that guide our political activism and peaceful struggle for a democratic society. |
| 4- We remind the national and international observers that the Justice & Spirituality Movement is not the only movement targeted by this new campaign of repression, and that other free movements may be the next victims if such state repression is not condemned and unmasked. One needs only to pass in review the history of despotism and despots to draw the lesson. |
| 5- We call upon the men and women of good will among the thinkers, politicians, human rights activists, and all the champions of freedom and democracy to take an unsubtle stand in this critical moment and voice expressly their condemnation of this dangerous escalation of repression by the illegitimate regime that may lead the country, God forbid, to a tragic end. |
| 6- We again remind those in power, in case some of them may still be responsive to any reminder, that their predecessors used all illegitimate means during one quarter of a century to curb the JSM, in vain. Everybody knows what their lot was. On the other hand, the JSM, praise be to God, is gaining wide acceptance, and earning the sympathy and support of the Moroccan people and the international community, day after day, inside and outside Morocco. Will they ever take heed of history’s lessons?!!! |
| In the end, we pray to God to assist us against the oppressors and entrust all our affairs to Him, for He – Exalted be He - is our Supporter and Protector. |
