Speech by Mr. Fathlah Arssalan addressed to the people who came to support Nadia Yassine during her trial
March 14, 2006
In the name of God, most gracious, most merciful. And peace, mercy and blessings be upon our prophet Muhammad and his family and companions.
Dear brothers and sisters,
You came today to support free speech and free opinion in a time when the once free speech has become shackled. You came to proclaim to everyone here and abroad that you are with justice, equity and freedom, freedom of expression and all freedoms.
We came to say no to persecution of free press, no to persecution of free opinion, no to despotism, no to repression of liberties.
May God reward you for your presence and support, may he accept and bless your efforts. Today you lived up to what people inside and outside Morocco know hear and expect of you. You are known for your discipline, order, peacefulness and rejection of violence. You came and made your point. So now you can leave accompanied with God’s assistance and victory.
As for today’s hearing, it seems to me (and God knows best) that it is heading towards a deferment because the other defendant didn’t show up although we know for sure that he was notified. But what’s done is done and as we say: as long as you’re in Morocco let nothing astonish you.
Please depart now may God guide your steps and bless your efforts; please make sure you give them once again a lesson in discipline and order. Don’t block roads and streets, take the sidewalks .may God be on our side and yours and grant us victory and assistance.
There is no God but the only God and Muhammad is his messenger.
May God’s peace mercy and blessing be on you.
