| It seems that I am a prophet of doom fearing neither God nor man who dares to say that systems that do not evolve can only decline. |
| It seems that I have unmasked myself when I said that the Republic seemed to me closer to the system of government established by the Prophet of Islam. |
| It seems that I have committed a crime of lèse-majesté when I thought that freedom of expression was an asset in Morocco. |
| It seems that I am making summit discoloration, that I am changing VIPs from the red to the green. |
| It seems that I was received with great pomp and ceremony at the University of Berkeley. |
| I have never had similar giggles in my life. To think that a particular elite is just good at producing malicious gossip and hatching petitions. |
| Ignorantus, ignoranta, ignorantum. Berkeley is not the Department of State. The cultivated people know full well that it is the stronghold of opposition to the policies of the Neo-conservatives. |
| The fact remains that my opinions that I have been voicing for decades have, to my total stupefaction, launched a real tsunami in the national media. |
| It is so funny to see how the proliferation of political parties and the multiplication of platforms are actually none but an act of deception and a range of instruments to kill boredom while awaiting the favorable caravan that would enable them to officially find a consensus never lost in fact. |
| For what can one compare such media lynching if not to an acute pique that a drama company, where each has his minor part, would feel when an intruder comes from stage left to inveigh against a hackneyed expression that does not rhyme with the well-edited text of the comedy. |
| How delightful it is to see what freedom of expression is worth for our very special democrats. I am not sure to be a prophet of doom, but I am sure to have the calling of Pygmalion. Because all of a sudden the national press – often dull, sometimes fatal – becomes brilliant in form as well as in content (with all due respect to the journalists who respect themselves, and there are indeed, and to the magazine that publishes my articles out of respect for freedom of expression). |
| Stylistic effects have been released, the formal analyses substantiated with historic quotes and academic references fly from all sides and, miracle of a miracle, some rags of yesterday have begun to resemble the « Monde diplomatique » in terms of racking their brains. That’s unprecedented ! |
| It is a real public service rendered to the « right-thinking » circles, if there are any, that have made themselves gratuitously in the service of the « wrong-thinking » circles ; gratuitously… perhaps not ? |
| How many hidden vocations, I was saying, have seen the light of day, thank God ! |
| They have discovered that they had the gifts of staunch orators convinced of the veracity of their …nonsense. They have discovered that the impulses of their heart went for what they used to deny in the past. They have discovered that they were male chauvinists after they had always thought to be « progressists », « feminists », and that they would rather see me make couscous (and that’s what I often do and proclaim as much as my interview). They have discovered that they felt nostalgic for Tazmamart. They have discovered that they were executioners …who have gone as far as to say a little of good of my father just to better isolate me, to better lynch me. |
| Not because they love this father that they declare to be dying, but certainly because our religious references teach us to be indulgent with the dead. It is true that not all of them log on the Internet to distinguish the dead from the living… But all of them are more connected to the religious references than the Islamists they flay for that, more royalists than the king, more extremists than extremes. |
| That’s daily bread mania that has reached beyond national boundaries to affect the little Thierry Oberlé of the “Figaro” –what business is it of yours?–, who rather eats pastilla by proxy. Morocco is not in the French Right, I think … Correct me! You’re staying in the margin, anyway ! |
| In short, a real catharsis that has made an entire brood get out of their undeclared schizophrenia. |
| And to think that I had made a routine interview! A real national service of upgrading (very low certainly, but upgrading still). Unless it is a service of diversion in which the Makhzen is the ace of aces, the absolute champion. Throw me in prison! No more diversion is possible; your balance sheet has been completed. |
| Indeed a particular Moroccan elite does not have any assets other than amazing again – and always – and being where it is not expected to be like that « little mischievous Bouddha » « Cf. M6 “culture pub” program). |
| Instead of being decorated, I am being tried. Because all of them have discovered that they were united before History to say YES to autocracy, to the whip, to repression and NO to the freedom of expression. |
| They pounce on me, they boo me, they hate me, they accuse me of all evils, of all defects, just because they have discovered that those expected, in their pre-established views, to be the enemies of democracy are in fact its real depositaries and do not content themselves with heaping praise on freedom of expression for the purpose of a « new era ». They rather live it body and soul and believe it is inherent to their view of the Islamic power. This power that the Umayyad took charge of erasing from our memories until they left us, fourteen centuries later and more still, like wet rags and doormats. |
| Democracy, Messrs. the democrats (distasteful though it may be to you), is above all a question of courage. |
| The regime in power and the national unity, are they so vulnerable in your eyes of skeptical and dubious democrats that you have chosen my speech in a rising newspaper in order to make so much patriotic fuss and flay yourselves for what you might be expected to be thinking of ? |
| Instead of playing the part you pretend to play, that of members of the civil society and of convinced partisans, you content yourselves with shooting at all that moves. By God, that’s the end of the world! I’d rather go to prison to distinguish myself from such intellectual pessimism. |
| What wonderful revelations my opinion, a huge tsunami in a glass of water, has released! If I have shown my true face as our democrats – notoriously known as eradicators – have said, they, on the other hand, have completely unmasked their ill intentions: so it is a 1-all draw. |
| People will understand why I have chosen to be « Islamist ». For in addition to having access to the meaning of this life wherein you play less resplendent parts, it was the only means to meet with democracy in a country where democracy has lost its democrats, to meet with the democrats who muzzle and kill freedoms. |
| Presently, we know that our Democrats are so only in their future intentions, that they are secular when need be, autocrats most of the time, and violent by nature. What a great illusion! But isn’t Morocco the land of paradoxes and mysteries ? |
| Because Morocco deserves it well, it is, if you please ! the country that has given birth to a new concept in the world of political ideas. Please let no one come and steal it from us. Morocco is the founding father of demautocracy, please make a note of it! Let’s set up a “pétition citoyenne” for that !!! |
| Moroccan Democrats – secular, autocrat and liberticidal – let’s unite against the abduction of our unique realities and let’s register our political trademark before they take it from us. It’s a real wonder in the field of political « ijtihad ». But don’t worry! Nobody can do better than us; our creature is too special. |
| Didn’t the matter deserve a thousand of trials and even the gallows ? It is not everyday that a mere political opinion turns into efficient maieutics of the unusual. |
| Didn’t the matter deserve a thousand of trials ? Unmask the comedy of the century and then die … To be continued in the trial… And I withdraw my irreverence from Messrs. the demautocrats whom I have disturbed in their grotesque performance... |
| See you later… Or perhaps soon… |
